As many of you already know my “Bloomingstackers” are to be featured in Art Doll Quarterly. I am so excited about this! It feels like after many years of hearing “No, No, No” from so many different sides, someone finally said “YES.” And to top it off that someone is a great, high quality, nation wide magazine! I don’t think saying I was excited conveys the emotional high that first and subsequent emails have elicited. My reaction to the first email was the most tumultuous. I will admit, I literally jumped up and down in my studio screaming. I have no idea what I said, or if it was coherent. (Flip-Flop, my dog, was the only witness. But she has not deemed it necessary to tell me what I said. Frankly I think she was a little terrified by the whole ordeal.) Jumping’s ability to expel enough energy was quickly overwhelmed and I resorted to running through my house. Once I made it back to the studio, slightly winded, I spontaneously burst into tears. Yep, just like a character out of Russian literature. I then promptly called my mom and my husband, both

of which had a hard time understanding me. My reaction to each subsequent email has been much more subdued. However, each has still left me in awe. I can not believe I am communicating with the editor of a publication I have admired since I was in middle school. There is still that little voice saying “ME? She’s talking to…ME?” I hope this is just one of many art opportunities I will participate in that leaves me feeling both humbled and honored. I promise myself no matter how many opportunities like this occur in my art career, I will not lose that sense of awe.
Here are some pictures of the Bloomingstackers that will be featured in Art Doll Quarterly, and a few that are available for sale.
